Red Wheat Seed

MCIA Marlin is a non-bearded, high yielding, soft red winter wheat. 

  • MCIA Marlin is a medium maturity with short straw, non-bearded, soft red winter wheat.  MCIA Marlin has a good disease package and is a consistently high yielding line.  MCIA Marlin has good adapability and yields well on various soil types.  It is a proven winner ranking #1 in the MSU Yield Trials and highest 3 year average in the 2022 MSU Yield Trials. 

In the 2022 Michigan State University Wheat Variety Trails, MCIA Marlin yielded 85.8 bu/ac.

MCIA Flipper is a white chaffed, awnless, high yielding, soft red winter wheat.   It is an early line with an excellent disease package and wide adaptability. Flipper has good resistance to stripe rust and scab.  Flipper also has a great sprouting score and short straw – stands well.

In the 2022 Michigan State University Wheat Variety Trails, MCIA Flipper yielded 93.6 bu/ac.

MCIA Harpoon is a white chaffed, awnless, high yielding, soft red winter wheat.   It is an early line with an excellent disease package and wide adaptability.  Harpoon has good resistance to stripe rust and excellent resistance to head scab.

Harpoon was not entered In the 2022 Michigan State University Wheat Variety Trails.

Sampson is a bearded, high yielding, soft red winter wheat.  Sampson is a short strawed plant with good test weight and yields. Better suited for heavier ground than light/variable soils.  Excellent head scab and stripe rust resistance.

  • Sunburst is a non-bearded, high yielding, soft red winter wheat developed by an Ohio breeding program – Sunbeam Extract. 
  • Sunburst has good lodging resistance (think short straw) and is resistant to strip rust and wheat spindle streak mosiac virus. 
  • In the 2022 Michigan State University Wheat Variety Trails, Sunburst had a 6 county average yield of 86.6 bu/ac.
  • Sunburst chaff and straw color is white.
  • Sunburst is widely adapted to Michigan soils and climate with an average maturing date.

  • MCIA Wharf is a non-bearded, high yielding, soft red winter wheat.   Wharf is a very short variety, medium season maturity, with excellent yield and good standability.  It had the highest two-year average in the 2022 MSU red wheat trials.

    In the 2022 Michigan State University Wheat Variety Trails, MCIA Wharf yielded 95.6 bu/ac.

White Wheat Seed

Whitetail is a new awnless white chaffed high yielding soft white winter wheat variety developed at Michigan State University.  Whitetail exhibits a stable and high level of performance, broad adaptation, and resistance/tolerance to many plant diseases.  Whitetail has lower DON levels that other commercially available soft white winter wheat varieties.  Whitetail will respond well to fungicide management to control stripe rust and spot pathogens.

In the 2022 MSU Variety Trials, Whitetail yielded 87.8 bu/ac.

AC Mountain is a non-bearded soft white winter wheat developed at the Agriculture Canada Research Station in Ontario.  AC Mountain is a high yielding variety with good lodging resistance and moderate resistance to barley yellow dwarf virus. 

In the 2021 Michigan State University Wheat Variety Trails, AC Mountain has a 5 county average yield of 100.3 bu/ac.

AC Mountain chaff and straw color is white and makes excellent livestock bedding material. 

AC Mountain is widely adapted to Michigan soils and climate with an average maturing date. 

Just a thought…. use a 10.5 ounce rate of Palisade on this variety in the spring when you put on your herbicide and fungicide.  The probablility of lodging is greatly reduced by using Palisade.

Jupiter is a non-bearded, high-yielding, soft white winter wheat developed by Michigan State University. 

  • Jupiter has the highest three year yield average for all white wheat varieties tested in the 2021 MSU yield trials with a 5 county average of 97.0 bu/ac in 2021.  Jupiter has good lodging resistance and is resistant to strip rust and wheat spindle streak mosiac virus. 
  • Jupiter chaff and straw color is bronze.
  • Jupiter is widely adapted to Michigan soils and climate with a late maturing date about three days after AC Mountain.
